Giulia and Carlo have been happily married for three years, but news that Giulia is pregnant causes her to roam aimlessly through shopping centers and throws Carlo into panic. Terrified at the imminent prospect of entering an adult world of responsibility and discouraged by the stories he listens to from married friends, Carlo finds temptation in the person of a beautiful 18-year-old who, to him, stands for all he is about to lose as a father.
